USA Rugby Tournament - Savannah Adult 15's Rugby Tournament

Savannah , Georgia , founded in 1733 as a British Colony has old world charm with new world energy! Savannah is located along the Riverfront but is also only kilometers away from warm and inviting beaches. With Spanish moss draping the trees, Savannah is also the place where many films have been shot such as Forrest Gump and Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil . Savannah is also the home of one of the largest Rugby tournaments in the United States and is definitely the one with the most fun! Open to all divisions, levels, and for both male and female teams, we invite your team to cross the pond and vie for the tournament championship!

Travel

Flights: Flights to Georgia are available from several UK airports so for more information contact the Tours 4 Sport office. Flights are normally released 11 months in advance.

Accommodation

Accommodation for the tournament ranges from 2* to 4* hotels. If you have a preference then we can arrange it for you. Detailed accommodation information will be given with each new tour itinerary.

Itinerary

11 March :

Depart your UK city for a flight to Savannah , Georgia .

Upon arrival, you will be met by a member of the local STATS team to transfer you to your hotel for some rest and relaxation.

12 March :

After a hearty American breakfast, we will enjoy a morning tour of Old Savannah. Savannah was the southernmost bulwark of the British Empire in the Americas and boasts British streets, pubs, and a fortress dating from the 18 th century. The Riverfront is also worth a visit because of the maritime activities, eateries, pubs, and nightlife.

Rest of the afternoon free but in the evening, we will join the official tournament social at a local pub to meet everyone and get ready for the next two days!

13 March :

Breakfast in Hotel followed by a full day of Rugby at the local Pitch. Enjoy the usual post-match hospitalities.

14 March :

15 March : Tour to St Simons Island

After a hearty breakfast, we head South for a Tour of St. Simons Island. St. Simon Island, just a short drive North from Florida, is home to fabulous beaches , golfing , charter fishing , spas and salons , and a variety of restaurants , fun events and entertainment for everyone. In mid-March, not yet Spring, one can usually expect temperatures to range anywhere from 21 to 28 Celsius in the day so bring your swim suit if you want to take a dip.

In the evening, we will eat traditional Southern Seafood & Cuisine at Uncle Bubba's Oyster House. Uncle Bubba's is a very traditional and comfortable eatery located East of Savannah along the marshy isles that empty into the Atlantic Ocean . You can get the best seafood as well as traditional southern fare from inland here.

16 March : Day Free in Savannah / Optional Activities

Today you are free for optional activities. You may consider enjoy a ghost tour at night as Savannah is said to be the most haunted town in America , or visit nearby Tybee Island where the beaches are nice and food is great, or just hang along the Riverfront in preparation for the big day tomorrow! There will be live music starting early and ending late so be ready!

17 March : St. Patrick's Day Parade and Festivities in Savannah , Georgia

Happy St Patrick's Day!

Today everyone in the US becomes Irish and the parade and festivities surrounding the Savannah 's is one of the biggest in the world. Savannah was the second most important port for Irish immigrants coming to the United States and this has made Savannah proud to host such a large St. Paddy's Day Festival. Floats, Banners, pageantry, and beer flow freely as they have since 1814 and visitors from all over the world are on hand to enjoy themselves to the maximum possible!

18 March : Morning Free / Return flight to the UK

After breakfast, you will have the day free before we transfer back, early afternoon, to the Savannah airport to begin your flight back to the UK .
