Rugby Training Camp at Loughborough University with Brighton College

In the summer of 2009 Brighton College 1st XV U15 and U18 rugby team travelled to Loughborough University to undertake their annual pre-season rugby training camp organised by Tours 4 Sport. Read below for what Nick Buoy the Master of Rugby at Brighton had to say about the training camp.

"We do an annual pre-season rugby camp with Tours 4 Sport for our senior and under 15 boys. Last year we were in Italy and this year we wanted to stay in the UK so we chose their Loughborough University package. We trained daily at the university and stayed at a hotel within 5 minutes' drive of the campus.

The package was great. The lads got to play on a top quality grass pitch and did a couple of sessions on the artificial pitch as well, which was fine for rugby. The weights gym was top quality, as was the swimming pool. All the facilities combined allowed us to deliver a rounded pre-season preparation to our squads which has translated into good results at the start of the season. You cannot help but be inspired at a facility like Loughborough where everybody is encouraged to strive to achieve their sporting goals. I would say Loughborough is of particular interest to students of this age who might appreciate seeing the university at close quarters, and to see how an interest in sport can translate into a career away from the pitch. We had a health and nutrition lecture and visited the Sport Technology Institute, both of which were interesting and informative for students and staff.

Tours 4 Sport organised all our bookings for us and ensured that everything was prepared correctly and on time. Their staff presence meant we could focus on our coaching sessions and not worry about the logistics of the tour. The accommodation was ideal: affordable, comfortable, close to the campus and with big meals to keep the players happy!"
