Belenenenses Rugby Club Tour to Edinburgh 2007
At Tours 4 Sport we work with sports clubs, schools and universities sending their teams on sports tours all over the world but in 2007 our UK sports tours have become extremely popular with sports teams and tour operators from outside of the UK. Belenenenses Rugby Club from Lisbon, Portugal were part of the largest rugby tour group to come from Portugal and play in the UK. Over 95 parents, players and club members flew into Edinburgh to embark upon a five day tour with U11, U13, U15 and U17 age groups.

The first day in Edinburgh was spent at a tailor-made training camp at the second oldest rugby club in the world and the ground where England first played Scotland which added a sense of spectacle to the day. The coaches were all impressed at the standard of rugby the boys showed and as the training sessions finished the boys headed back to the clubhouse to be greeted by Chris Patterson and Hugo Southwell, current Scotland internationals. Although tired after a lengthy training session, everyone soon perked up and the two Scottish rugby players were happy to pose for photos and answer any questions. After a hearty meal the group headed back to the hostel to rest for their forthcoming matches.

The Scottish teams were again impressed by the standard of rugby from the Portuguese and only one of the Belenenenses sides failed to win after some very closely fought matches. A tour of Murrayfield stadium and the Scotland rugby Museum was to follow before all 97 tourists boarded the plane back to Lisbon. Throughout their tour the group stayed in a new central hostel which was ideal for players and parents as it was centrally located with excellent facilities on site.
