Tenerife is the largest of the Canary Islands and is closer to Africa than Spain, making it ideal for warm weather training. With an average of 300 days of sunshine per year, Tenerife is always very popular with British swimming groups, as it offers the opportunity to train in the open air. Top Training Tenerife is located in Adeje, on the south-western coast and offers excellent facilities for athletes of many different sports. For swimmers it offers two excellent swimming pools: the first, Olympic-sized, offers 10 lanes and is FINA certified; the second is a 25m pool offering 6 lanes. There is plenty of training equipment available here for swimming groups, including FINA starting blocks and even a flume channel, which can be used for injury rehabilitation or technique analysis.
Other facilities include group and private stretching rooms, spinning bikes, indoor and outdoor gyms, a sauna, a steambath, a Jaccuzzi and a fully-equipped massage room. La Caleta, a small town, and its beach (a mixture of sand and pebbles), will be just a short walk from your hotel, which has hosted many swimming groups previously and is close to the training ground. If you do wish to relax on a sandy beach, don’t worry, there are plenty to the north and south of the resort. For exciting nights out, just jump in a cab to vibrant Playa de las Americas.
