For a lot of beach rugby tour locations in Europe, you have to sacrifice the rugby quality and culture, but not in Biarritz. The jewel in the Basque crown is a rugby-mad town - local rugby heroes Serge Blanco, Imanol Harinordoquy and Pascal Ondarts all have shops or restaurants in town. In addition to the professional side, Biarritz Olympique, there is no shortage of local amateur clubs who will enjoy a friendly fixture and, of course, the '3rd half' back in the clubhouse. The beaches on this stretch of coastline on the south-western tip of France are magnificent: huge, sandy expanses, many of them popular with surfers. The food and drink is excellent and, if you want a contrast to the rather chic Biarritz, spend half a day in the neighbouring Bayonne; a bustling, atmospheric Basque town. The best time to tour is during May or September, but if you would prefer to travel at a different time, please just let us know and we will be very happy to advise you on this. Biarritz is highly recommended for clubs who want a genuine rugby tour experience which combines an authentic rugby culture with a top class location.
