Sam has a strong background both in the sports travel industry and as a sportsman in his own right. As a junior, he played representative cricket and football for Manchester Schoolboys, but rugby was his real passion, progressing through county rugby with Lancashire to captain the North of England, before representing England at Under 18 level. Senior rugby brought stints with Sale and Sedgley Park, but his most formative years were spent playing in France, at top-flight club Pau. Upon his return to the UK, he launched Tours 4 Sport and has been organising team sports tours since 2005. Although Director of Sports Tours, Sam still likes to spend most of his time working with customers to create the best tour for their requirements, whilst also managing the direction of the Tours 4 Sport team as a whole. Sam continues to be heavily involved in rugby, still playing and coaching his national league club Burnage.
What inspired you to work in sports travel?
“Playing rugby professionally in France, I was able to learn the language and discover the country. I saw first-hand how sport can open many doors and that sports travel offers incredible benefits in terms of life experience. This is why we work hard to provide each group with the best possible experience, using our own experiences and knowledge to advise and operate with honesty and integrity.”
Chris began his working career (if you can call it that!) as a professional golfer. Having represented his county at U16 and U18, he turned professional aged 19. Four years later, a freak encounter with a Northampton Town scout on a Sunday morning led to a short spell playing professional football, although it soon became clear that Chris was, unfortunately, going to have to work for a living. Clearly passionate about all sports, Chris soon found his calling in sports travel and, after 6 years in corporate sports and events travel, he joined Tours 4 Sport in 2013. Having originally started out specialising in itineraries planning, Chris is now the first point of contact for group leaders, working closely with them and using his extensive knowledge and experience to create a tailor-made sports tour.
What’s your favourite sport?
“I love all sport and my latest passion is tennis, having been inspired by Andy Murray’s Wimbledon victory! My favourite sporting destination has to be the Caribbean – the sound of leather on willow, set against breathtakingly stunning beaches, is paradise!”
Ed is our Head of Professional Training Tours and football-mad. Having to cut his playing career short through injury, Ed remains incredibly passionate about football. So much so, that he has worked in and around football for the past 15 years, in various roles encompassing coaching, teaching, event management, business and travel. After spending several years travelling back and forth between the UK and US running and delivering soccer schools and clinics, Ed decided to focus on arranging professional coaching experiences. He has worked closely with many of Europe’s elite professional clubs, representative teams and professional youth academies since 2008 and has personally visited and worked with many clubs from the world’s top leagues, include the Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga and the MLS.
What are your other interests?
“Aside from the obvious football, travel and business, I enjoy watching and playing all sports, as well as trying to teach them to my two young sons – who are, naturally, my biggest hobby!”
Kate is the Itinerary Coordinator for Tours 4 Sport and so liaises with Group Leaders to create their very own tailor-made itinerary. With substantial experience within administrative roles, Kate will work hard to ensure that all the logistical arrangements are in place before you travel, to allow your sports tour to run as smoothly as possible. A big sports fan, Kate is also a keen traveller, who has had many memorable, thought-provoking and educational travel moments. She joined Tours 4 Sport to help young people to create similar memories of their own.

Why did you choose a career in sports travel?
“I became interested in youth sports travel in the summer of 2014, when I travelled to Connecticut in the USA, to work as a Camp Councillor mentoring 16 year olds in several sporting and general life skills.”
